Sedation
Dentistry
Sedation Dentistry
allows you to be sedated just enough to be unaware of your dental treatment.
You will have little or no memory of what was accomplished during your
dental visit.
Because you are
completely relaxed, we can correct, improve or restore years of dental
problems (concerns) in one or two visits. This alone is beneficial not only
to people who fear dental work but also to people with busy schedules. We
can comfortably eliminate decay and old black fillings, extract diseased
teeth and wisdom teeth, restore sore gums to good health, whiten yellow or
stained teeth, fix a chipped tooth, eliminate the pain from an infected
tooth and more. Imagine being able to smile with confidence and chew your
food without pain.
Nitrous Oxide
For those patients who are extremely anxious about dental work, we offer
nitrous oxide analgesia. Nitrous is commonly known as "laughing
gas". It has a calming effect, relieves anxiety and makes for an
enjoyable experience. There are no lasting effects from the nitrous - within
minutes after coming off the gas, all your sensibilities return to normal.
Drill - Less Dentistry
For certain small cavities, Air Abrasion can mean
NO needles and NO drills. It is a relatively new technology in dentistry. A
high powered stream of air, with powder, cleans decay from small cavities on
the chewing surfaces of back teeth, allowing a white filling to be bonded in
place. In the right circumstances it is quick, painless and conserves tooth
structure. If you have any cavities that are good candidates for this
procedure, we will certainly let you know.
Laser Cavity Detector
Providing the absolute best service to our patients is one of our goals. We
have therefore acquired a brand new, high tech tool that allows us to find
cavities on the chewing surfaces of back teeth, even when they just
beginning, and would have been missed by previous detection methods. The
DIAGNOdent is a small, portable laser unit that can detect these cavities
and alert us with an audible signal and also provide a numerical readout, so
we have an idea of it's size. The value is that we can stop cavities in
their infancy, whereas in the past they would have to be significantly
bigger before we could find and treat them. Just like other areas of
medicine and dentistry, early detection and treatment is of immeasurable
value in preserving your health.
Intra Oral Camera
The intra-oral camera wand takes a close-up picture of a tooth that is
projected on a television monitor. It enables the patient to see the tooth
problem first-hand at 40x magnification, and then see the solution after the
tooth is restored. It also helps us to diagnose fractured teeth, cracked
fillings and other problems that may not be visible to the naked eye.
Digital X-rays
To improve your care we've invested in a new way of looking
into your mouth—a procedure that's fast, and incredibly precise –
digital x-rays. What's even more amazing is that we get an image immediately
that is large, clear, and accurate, right next to your chair…ready for
discussion. Digital x-ray technology speeds and simplifies the diagnostic
part of your treatment, and most importantly allows us to provide a much
higher level of care.
I-glasses
Relax in the dental chair with a travel video or an episode of your favorite
TV sitcom, projected in a virtual reality headset. Or bring a favorite DVD
with you to make your visit more enjoyable.
NTI Tension Suppression System
When stress and tension cause people to clench their jaws, the result can
be severe pain in their head, neck and shoulders. Dentists have discovered
that a small plastic device worn over the two front teeth can break the
cycle of stress-induced jaw clenching.
The device is called an NTI-Tension Suppression System. The FDA has
approved its use for the treatment of headaches. After your dentist fits the
NTI to your teeth, you wear it at night to help reduce the intense muscle
contractions of your scalp and jaw that can cause migraines and jaw pain.
Some studies have shown that patients who use the NTI have reduced the
intensity of their jaw clenching by as much as 66 percent. These patients
have also seen a significant decrease in the number and frequency of their
headaches.
